DESCRIPTION:THIS IS NOT A TACTICAL TRAINING COURSE\n\nPreparing employees f
 or a potential active shooter incident is an integral component of an orga
 nization’s incident response planning. Because active shooter incidents 
 are unpredictable and evolve quickly\, preparing for and knowing what to d
 o in an active shooter situation can be the difference between life and de
 ath. Every second counts.\n\nThe U.S. Department of Homeland Security is h
 osting a one-day workshop to enhance preparedness against active shooter i
 ncidents through:\n\n 	Developing an Emergency Action Plan with guidance f
 rom expert instructors\n 	Identifying strengths\, weaknesses\, and gaps in
  physical security and planning considerations via break-out sessions\n 	L
 earning how to prevent active shooter incidents by recognizing behavioral 
 indicators on the pathway to violence\n 	Understanding the history of sign
 ificant active shooter incidents through survivor stories and expert persp
 ectives\n\nEnhancing Emergency Planning\n\nThe workshop will describe how 
 to incorporate key elements of successful incident management into plannin
 g efforts\, such as:\n\n 	Developing communication and incident plans for 
 employees\n 	Building relationships with local first responders\n 	Coordin
 ating with first responders before\, during\, and after an incident\n 	Int
