SUMMARY:C.E.R.T Basic
DESCRIPTION:The CERT basic course meets every Tuesday and Thursday night fr
 om 6:00 to 9:00 PM for four consecutive weeks.  Attendance to all eight m
 odules is required to receive a certificate.  Students will be provided w
 ith a manual\, backpack and the basic personal protective equipment requir
 ed for the course.\n\nCERT educates individuals about disaster preparednes
 s for hazards that may impact their area and trains them in basic disaster
  response skills\, such as fire safety\, light search and rescue\, team or
 ganization\, and disaster medical operations. Using training learned in th
 e classroom and during exercises\, CERT volunteers can assist others in th
 eir community following a disaster when professional responders are not im
 mediately available to help. CERT volunteers are also encouraged to suppor
 t emergency response agencies by taking an active role in emergency prepar
 edness projects.
